Shawna Holt
Kids Ministry Director
Hello! I’m Shawna Holt, and I have the joy of serving as the Children’s Ministry Director here at Rural Shade Baptist Church.
It’s such a blessing to walk alongside kids and their families as they grow in their faith and discover just how deeply God loves them.
I’ve been involved in children’s ministry for over five years, and every moment has been a gift. I truly believe that children are not just the future of the church—they are a vital part of the church today.
When I’m not at church, you’ll likely find me cheering on my kids at the softball field, basketball court, or whatever activity they’re involved in at the moment. I’m incredibly thankful to be part of this community and can’t wait to see all that God continues to do in the lives of our kids!

Rita Baucom
Church Clerk & Financial Secretary
Rita Baucom is the wife of Billy Baucom, mother of two children, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
The Baucom family joined Rural Shade in August of 2018 when they moved to Tarkington.
She started her career as a payroll specialist, moved to office management, then to a local ISD as PEIMS Coordinator/Registrar. In 2005 she became the entrepreneur of a sole-proprietor, business service company. She closed the business in 2014 and went on to be an integral part of the administrative team at a private classical Christian school in Kingwood. Rita was hired as the Church Clerk/Financial Assistant at Rural Shade in August of 2022. Rita does not see her position as a job but a tool to do ministry in the Tarkington area.
Sherri Holt
Media & Outreach Coordinator
Sherri is married to David Holt and they have seven children and many grandchildren.
Sherri & David and several of their children began attending RSBC in 2008.
Sherri’s love for designing marketing materials, combined with her administrative background has allowed her to use her gifts in many areas of service at RSBC.
Sherri worked as an Administrative Assistant, Office Manager, & Litigation Assistant before opening a graphics print shop in Tarkington.
After 12 years in business, they elected to sell their printing business to devote more time to church and retirement. Sherri took on the role of Volunteer Coordinator at RSBC. She helped organize events and coordinate volunteers for RSBC & Tarkington Helping Hands Food Pantry, which is sponsored by RSBC. Sherri helped RSBC Members stay connected during the Covid Pandemic and continue to serve our community in the food pantry. Over the years, she has volunteered for everything from helping in the kitchen, to working outside cleaning-up brush on work-days.
In a continued effort to reach those in and around our community, the RSBC Deacons created a staff position of Outreach/Online & Print Media Coordinator. This position allowed Sherri to use her creative gifts and organizational skills to help RSBC continue to reach those in and around our community through various social media platforms, as well as printed media in the church & communities.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:33-34
